James and The Giant Peach, Er, Avocado

James and The Giant Peach Avocado

Okay, so it wasn't really even a giant avocado, but the corny part of me wanted to use the title. :)

One of my favorite fruits (although in my mind it's really a veggie) is the avocado.  I love them on burgers.  I love them in guacamole.  I love them in salads.  I love them anyway you'll give them to me.  In fact, when I was pregnant with Emi, I had to muster all of the self-control I had to not eat an entire $4 bag of 5  when I'd bring them home from Sam's.  Plain.  Yep.  I love them!!!

So, now, does Adam.  I scored some a week ago for $.25/piece, which I've never in my life seen, and picked several up.  Adam, in turn, ate them for breakfast.  On Sunday morning, he shared some with James, and he loved them!!!

Here are a few pictures of the process.  If you want a healthy and easy food to feed a little person like James, avocado is a great place to start!

First taste . . . Thinking about it!

I think you have your answer . . . He couldn't keep his eyes off of the stuff!

Moving in for the kill!

:)

Yep, I think it was a hit . . . Must be genetics! :)

One of My Favorite Things on EARTH!!!

There aren't many (or possibly any) things in life that make my heart sing more than watching my husband with my kids, and watching the way they each adore him.  It is so unbelievably special.

Lately, James has just really been utterly adoring towards his daddy, and I can't get enough of it! If he hears Adam a few rooms away, he immediately gets excited and starts to look for him!  It is the best kind of sweetness!

Life really is so sweet!

Daddy's Girls

Look at these gals. They sure love and adore their daddy. I am so grateful that Adam is the type of father that invests in his girls so much that they adore him like they do!

BIG News (No, No Baby Yet!)!!!

A few months ago Adam was told by the various powers at be from his job, that their company might be taking on some additional buildings to manage company-wide, including in Kentucky. With the extra buildings, it would put the Facilities Manager (which is Adam's position) over the top with her responsibilities. Adam expressed interest then that he would like to be considered for the position if they were to add one on in KY. The bosses weren't very keen at all on it though, because Adam had worked so hard (let me tell you, it's been a rough road) to establish himself in the region, and things were going great. That was a few months ago. We knew it might still be a possibility, but had put it out of our minds.

Well, last week, Adam was offered the position in Kentucky, and we accepted it!!! So, we're moving!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Timing-wise, it'll be a little bit crazy considering the fact that I'm about to give birth to our 3rd child. However, it's exciting, and a desire of Adam's heart fulfilled! I'll be sad to leave my wonderful friends that God gave me here, and I'll be sad to leave Lynchburg in general--it's so very beautiful here. But, I'll be so glad to be near the family and friends we left almost 3 years ago!

We're looking to buy a home there. In fact, Adam's leaving this weekend to go looking at some (without me, sniffle, sniffle!). He'll video tape what he sees, so I can "see" the houses when he gets back. I just really feel like I couldn't make the trip with as sick as I tend to feel with the hypoglycemia. It's a precarious thing, and I didn't want to chance it or to feel bad on the road. In the meantime, his mother, Karen, has graciously agreed to come stay with the girls in me in case I were to go into labor while he's gone. I don't mind going into labor and possibly delivering the baby alone, but the stress of dealing with where to put my girls (without inconveniencing people here) would have been too much. I'm very glad for her to be coming!

As you can see, I'm pretty excited. It's been so fun to see how God is working and leading in our lives. He is good all the time, and has fulfilled his promises to care for us and provide for us!!!

I'll keep you posted on move developments and such as well as baby news! I have my next doctor appointment on Monday morning. I'll be 38 weeks tomorrow. I'm so excited to meet this little one and to find out "its" gender! Have a great weekend!

An Update & Some Pictures

My mother made these adorable hats for my girls. Aren't they precious?!?

I'll have to try and post some pics that show the detail of the hats--so beautiful!

Caroline's favorite time of the day--when Daddy gets home!

This is Caro's new best friend, her backpack bear. She takes him everywhere. He has a tail that we can attach to the pack, so we can tug her back when she's walking/running away from us. She's in the stage where she thinks it's funny to run away, whether in the store or in a parking lot, very scary!

Ignore the beast on the left, but look at my beautiful girl, whilst excusing her latest scab-picking under her nose! :)

Well, another week has flown by here at our house. This one was filled with doctor visits and napping, it seems! We started putting the girls in the same room again, so that makes for late nights for the girls, and early mornings! Ahhhh! Those of you who know me know that I am not a fan of the a.m. hours!!! Well, at least the 2-7 a.m. hours! I don't mind seeing them on the flip side! So, long story short, we have done some napping in the mid-morning hours to restore sanity and attitudes (no, I'm not excluding myself, hah!).

We went to the doctor last Friday for Emily's 15 mos. well care visit and a follow-up ear infection visit for Caroline. Caroline got a clean bill of health, thankfully; however, we found out that Emily had a pretty terrible ear infection. I knew she'd been extra fussy, but she'd also been cutting her sharpie teeth, so I naturally assumed it was that. Poor thing! I'm so glad we had that appointment! She seems to feel better though. Then, on Wednesday evening, Caroline started complaining a little bit about her throat hurting, and then began to run a high fever to accompany it. SO, back to the Dr.'s office we went in order to rule out strep, which it wasn't. Overnight, last night, her fever broke, and although she's continued to complain of a sore throat, she acted worlds better today! Yea!

I have started going to my weekly doctor visits as of this week. My body is in the beginning stages of readying for labor; however I'm not dilated. According to my ticker, I have 29 days left until my due date, and as of right now, that due date couldn't come quicker. I think I've written that I've been dealing with the opposite end of the diabetic spectrum this time. I've been dealing with hypoglycemia, and my doctor did nothing more than to diagnose it, and say that he was sorry but there wasn't anything anyone could do. Well, after being sick from low blood sugar on a perpetual basis, I went to the internet to see if there was anything at all that might help me feel better, and found a way I could alter my diet substantially, and have, Praise the Lord, felt much better. I still feel very precarious during the days, but worlds better then I was feeling.

Well, I've "talked" your ears off enough for now. Rest assured, there's more that I will likely post next week if we hear more on some certain opportunities (how's that for ambiguity?!?). Please keep us in your prayers.

My Goodness Me--Was I Spoiled Tonight!?!

Well, my good friend, Theresa, volunteered to watch our kids (in addition to her four!) tonight so that Adam and I could go on a date. Since having our kids, we've averaged about 1 a year, so it was something we were excited to take her up on!

Adam was awesome, and researched a fun place to take me, and when he got home to pick us up, he hadn't come empty-handed! Here's what he brought me:

Don't they look so fancy in this box?!?

One dozen long-stemmed roses!

I got to try my hand at arranging. Not too bad. Thank you, Grandma Judy, for this beautiful vase that you have us for our wedding!

After we dropped the kiddos off at Theresa's we went to downtown Lynchburg to an awesome pizzeria/micro-brewery called Water Stone. I forgot to take any pictures (which worked out since I prob. would have embarrassed Adam!), but I got some pics of a couple of things we ate off of their website. If you're ever in town, I'd highly recommend this place. The food was soooo good, and pretty fairly priced!

My Italian Chopped Salad--Mucho Yummy!
